Praying to the god I cannot see,
Hoping for a miracle that may never be,
Yearning for a paradise I never knew,
Wishing that my wishes may come true.
Praying in the dark for a guiding light,
Wishing on a star in the distant night,
Calling to the voice I cannot hear,
Hiding from a being I’ve never feared.
Hoping to achieve an unknown perfection,
Walking life’s path with no sense of direction,
Reaching for a hand I cannot hold,
Burning in a hell where the flames are cold.
Gasping for the air I never breathed in,
Fighting for a right I’ve never believed in,
Searching for a treasure I’ll never find,
Walking through the world to which I’m blind.
Losing the sense of right and wrong,
Pouring out my heart to a cup long gone,
I’m lost to the god I cannot see,
Hoping one day he’ll come find me.
